Maintenance of the air-conditioning system should also include checking the system for leaks and repairing them, if needed. A leak can result in the loss of the refrigerant, which in turn can cause the system efficiency to drop and cause damage to the compressor. In case of a minor leak, we recommend using a car A/C gas filling kit with a sealant.

A reduced level of refrigerant in the air-conditioning system can lead to reduced cooling efficiency or even cause the compressor to shut down. This is mostly caused by minor or major leaks that can occur over time with normal wear and tear of the car.

In order to keep the refrigerant in the A/C system at the correct level, it is recommended to first of all regularly check the pressure in the A/C system, preferably once a year. The preferred pressure is marked in green on the EasyKlima pressure gauge.

If the pressure is lower (white range marked ‘LOW’ on the EasyKlima pressure gauge), the first step should be to use the EasyKlima – LeakStop air-conditioning sealant kit in order to seal any leaks.

This product also contains a small amount of the A/C gas for refilling which should solve the problem. However, if the leakage of the refrigerant is so significant, that the volume of the refill is insufficient, then we recommend using a car A/C filling kit.

Ensuring a correct level of refrigerant in the air-conditioning system is crucial to ensure its proper operation. No air flow from the car’s A/C system does not necessarily mean that the system itself is defective. There are several factors that can stop the air flow. Below you will find some possible causes:

• Fuse or relay: If there is no air flow, you should check the fuse or relay supporting the ventilation and air-conditioning system. Any damage can prevent the ventilation from operating correctly.
• Lack of refrigerant: A low level of refrigerant (car A/C gas) in the system can prevent it from operating. In such a case, an A/C gas refill needs to be used. You can refill the A/C system on your own, using a car A/C filling kit that includes the A/C gas refill and all the necessary tools such as a hose with pressure gauge, retrofit or HP/LP adapters.
• Damaged control panel: In same cases the fact that there is no air flow can be caused by problems associated with the control panel that governs the ventilation and air-conditioning system. If the control panel is damaged, it might need to be repaired or replaced.
• The lack of air flow can be also caused by a damage to part of the fan, which is independent from the A/C system.
• Damaged blower motor: This can prevent the air from being blown in. In such a case, diagnosis is necessary with a possible repair or replacement of the blower motor.
• Damaged flow switch: The flow switch controls the operation of the blower and its settings (e.g., flow to the front and rear seats, flow to the footwell, etc.). If damaged, it may be necessary to repair or replace the switch.
• Electrical failure or problem associated with cables: Faulty electrical connections, cable damage or other issues related to the electrical system can result in no power supply to the blower, which in turns leads to poor air flow.

The correct pressure in car A/C system may vary depending on the car model and manufacturer’s specifications. However, there is a certain pressure rangethat is considered to be adequate. Below you will find general guidelines on the correct pressure in the car air-conditioning system:

• Pressure on the low side (aspiration): It usually ranges between 25 and 45 psi (170–310 kPa) for systems working with R134a refrigerant. For systems running on the older R12 refrigerant (usually used in older cars), the pressure can range from 30 to 40 psi (210–280 kPa). These values may slightly differ depending on the weather conditions.
• Pressure on the high side (increase): It usually ranges between 150 and 250 psi (1030–1720 kPa) for R134a systems. For R12 systems, the pressure on the high side can range from 175 to 250 psi (1200–1720 kPa). These values can also change slightly depending on the circumstances.

It is important to remember that the above values are general guidelines only and do not constitute a fully reliable way of determining the correct pressure for a particular car. You always need to observe the car manufacturer’s specifications. We recommend reading the car user manual or contacting a professional service station in order to obtain detailed information on the correct pressure to have in the car’s A/C system.
