Where is the air conditioning in the car?
Air conditioning in a car is usually located in the front of the vehicle, under the hood, behind the dashboard. The main components of the air conditioning system are the compressor, radiator, evaporator, condenser and fans. Here is a brief description of the location of these components:
- Compressor: It is usually located in the engine compartment, usually on one side, driven by a V-belt. Its job is to compress the refrigerant, or air conditioning gas, which is fed to the air conditioner.
- Radiator: It is also often located in the engine compartment, next to or in front of the engine radiator. The radiator is responsible for taking the heat from the car air conditioning gas and moving it outside the vehicle.
- Evaporator: The evaporator is a component mounted inside the cabin of the car, usually located under the dashboard or near the air vents. Its role is to change the refrigerant from gaseous to liquid form, which cools the air inside the cabin.
- Condenser: The condenser is also located in the engine compartment, usually at the front of the vehicle. After passing through the evaporator, the coolant goes to the condenser, where it gives off heat to the environment and becomes a gas again.
It is important to regularly maintain and service your car’s air conditioning system, including checking the level of air conditioning fill gas. This will help you enjoy a comfortable cool ride, especially during hot days.
